Finding Inspiration in Consistency
Have you ever heard of Seth Godin? He’s a name synonymous with consistency in the blogging world, having posted a new blog every day for a whopping 7000 days in a row. It’s nothing short of inspiring, isn’t it? This got me thinking about the power of daily blogging, not for making money, but as a means to document life and cultivate a habit of creation.
Blogging for the Love of Expression
My journey into daily blogging began with a simple desire—to document life and find an easy way to express myself. In an age of instant updates and fleeting moments, I yearned to create something lasting, something that could serve as a modern-day memoir. It brought back memories of the early days of the pandemic when I made a video every day for two weeks. It was a way to share thoughts and experiences until the world became overly political, and I shifted my focus.
Consistency as a Catalyst for Growth
The concept of consistency isn’t new to me. A while back, I set a challenge for myself—to code or build software for 100 consecutive days. As I approach the halfway mark, I can’t help but notice how this streak in software development, through both good days and bad, has started to transform me for the better. It’s not just about skill development; it’s about the confidence I’ve gained in my abilities and the joy of consistently pursuing my learning goals.
The Quest for a 90-Day Blogging Streak
Now, I’ve set a new goal for myself—to post to my blog every day, at least until the end of the year. That’s about 90 days of consecutive blog posts that I’m eager to write, not because I have 90 days’ worth of topics lined up, but because I have 90 days of life to live, experience, and reflect upon. It’s a journey of discovery, creativity, and commitment.
Tracking Progress for Motivation
Tracking progress is a powerful motivator. It’s like the Seinfeld method, named after the legendary comedian Jerry Seinfeld, who marked his calendar for every day he wrote a joke, determined not to break the chain. For coding, platforms like GitHub offer built-in tracking mechanisms. In my case, I’m using a simple app called Habit on my phone to ensure I don’t falter in my commitment.
Start Small, Dream Big
The beauty of this journey lies in its simplicity. You don’t need an elaborate system or a grandiose goal. All it takes is the commitment to try a little each day, to set a small goal, and to dream big. Consistency breeds confidence, and even the tiniest steps forward can lead to remarkable transformations.
Join the Consistency Challenge
As I embark on this 90-day blogging streak, I invite you to consider setting your own goal, no matter how modest it may seem. It could be as simple as writing a sentence a day or practicing a new hobby for a few minutes daily. The key is to start, to commit, and to keep going. It’s in these consistent efforts that growth and self-discovery thrive.
